Saturday ARTfarm Fruitiness!

10am – 12 noon down the South Shore road we’ve got your treats: Sweet salad mix, bunched arugula, loads of papaya, ripe sweet dragonfruit, crazy good pineapple, the last last last of the season’s tomatoes (just a few!), loads of sweet potato, pumpkin slices, onions, dandelion greens, all of our peppers, Italian basil, garlic chives, recao, lemongrass, ginger root, turmeric, tamarind and cocoa pods, passionfruit, zinnia flowers, and the first of our own Manzano mangoes for the summer!!

From our farming partners: delicious fresh local mild goat cheese from Fiddlewood Farm. Heather and Matthew at Yellow Door Farm plan to bring a few dozen eggs, lime and cinnamon basil, poblano peppers and eggplant.

ARTfarm 3-5:30 Farmstand 

Your farmers had a late night last night, pollinating the night-blooming dragonfruit. It is feeling like summer already on St. Croix: it’s hot, the Saharan dust is blowing,  and the school year is ending. Take a little time to stock the fridge with organically grown fruits and crisp cool salads!

Speaking of crisp cool ARTfarm salads and graduation celebrations, here’s a cool fact for you: Café Christine is open all summer! Yes, this little hideout lunch spot behind Apothecary Hall (opposite balter) in Christiansted used to be closed for six months of the year when the former owner Christine would go back to France. Chef Lisa Coates purchased the business about three years ago and has extended the café season to November through August, 11:30-2:30 Monday through Friday. Lisa faithfully replicates many of Christine’s famed recipes (hello, French tarts!) but also adds her own farm to table twist. She has also continued the tradition of hanging local artists’ work on the walls of the café. Inside and outside seating available, reservations recommended. She posts her daily menu on the Café Christine Facebook page. Sweet Potato Saturday, 10 AM – 12 noon

Good morning! Looking forward to seeing everyone at 10 am! Today we’ve got: Sweet salad mix, bunched arugula, loads of sweet potatoes all sizes, lots of papaya all sizes, onions, a few bunches of beets, pineapple, sliced and whole pumpkin, ginger root, turmeric, Italian basil, garlic chives, Italian parsley, recao, all of our peppers, zinnia flowers, ARTfarm chicken and turkey eggs. From our partners: Fiddlewood Farm’s fresh mild goat cheese and from Yellow Door Farm, more eggs, cinnamon, basil, lime basil, dandelion greens and ancho peppers. 


We love filling a skillet with only things we’ve grown on the farm. This ARTfarm breakfast hash is made from sweet potatoes, onions, peppers, turmeric and turkey eggs. Sprinkle a little goat cheese on top before serving!

Turkey eggs are jumbo sized, very rich and with a slightly thicker consistency, similar to a duck egg. The shells are a little thicker to crack, and the protective inner shell membrane inside is also thick. So have confidence when cracking a turkey egg! It’s well worth the increased effort!

Sweet salad mix and lots of it, teen arugula, loads of pineapple (a few green and quite a few ripe ones, lots of papaya, lots of sweet potatoes in all sizes, big beautiful sweet onions, ginger, turmeric, mango turmeric(!), Italian basil, garlic chives, recao, lemongrass, all of our sweet and our hot peppers, a few passionfruit, dandelion greens, assorted pumpkin, and zinnia flowers.
