We have a lot of beautiful RED and PINK things from the farm to make a special Valentine meal or gift for yourself or someone else that you love dearly. What could be a more meaningful and romantic way to say “I love you (and want you to be healthy and live a long time)” than to offer lovingly grown, freshly harvested farm food?

Mediterranean figs are nature’s bonbons. When ripe they are so tender and delicate that the velvety, paper thin skin needs to be handled with kid gloves. Inside you’ll find pastel shades of pink, or gold, or even a deep ruby red, depending on the variety. They are fragrant and flavorful in a contemplative way, so they are best enjoyed out of hand when on the beach at sunrise, in a candlelit bath, or over the pages of a slow burn, sensuous novel or some poetry.

Today’s Valentines to you, our BELOVED customers: Sweet salad mix with RED leaf lettuce, teen spicy salad mix with PURPLE mustard greens, baby spicy salad mix with RED mustard greens, teen arugula, baby arugula, microgreens with RED amaranth, sweet sweet SWEETHEART corn, RED beets, carrots, RED and white bulb onions, RED radishes, scallions, PURPLE yard long beans, sweet bell peppers, RED HOT chili peppers, kale, dandelion greens with RED stems, Italian basil, holy (Tulsi) and Thai basil with PURPLE flowers, lemon basil, cilantro, parsley, garlic chives, dill, mint, thyme, fresh harvested SPICY ginger, escarole, RED radicchio, PASSIONfruit, mangoes, ripe black sapote (CHOCOLATE pudding fruit) and fresh SWEET Mediterranean figs. Of course, on this day of all days, we will have fresh-cut zinnia flowers in many shades of PINK and RED for sale from the fields and gardens.

And from our partner I-Sha, perfect little LOVE cups of vegan ice cream including everyone’s favorite, HOT PINK beet-ginger flavor!!

We hope you’ll agree with us that an excessively corny joke can never be in truly poor taste. Well, you be the judge: ARTfarm Theatre presents “A Radish Walks Into a Bar”.

It’s true, all of the featured actors in the presentation above are available for purchase at today’s stand, along with other fresh items: Sweet salad mix, arugula, spicy salad mix, sweet corn, loads of tomatoes and cherry tomatoes (all types), beans, Italian basil, holy basil, lemon basil, Thai basil, parsley, cilantro, garlic chives, radishes, beets, onions, scallions, chili peppers, a few mangoes, black sapote (chocolate pudding fruit), passionfruit and a few bags of fresh Mediterranean figs!!

We still have plenty of freshly made refreshing vegan coconut ice creams in a rainbow of natural fruit and vegetable flavors from I-Sha.

Monday 3-6, MLKJR Day

Happy birthday to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose commitment to justice made so much possible. May his memory inspire everyone’s Day of Service. Selma is still playing at Sunny Isle through Wednesday.

Today, 3-6pm: Sweet salad mix, baby spicy salad mix, microgreens, arugula, dandelion greens, cucumbers, loads of tomatoes all types, cherry tomatoes, radishes, Italian basil, holy (tulsi) basil, garlic chives, mint, dill, recao, escarole, lettuce heads, small quantities of sweet corn, zinnia flowers.

From our partners we have vegan ice cream, a perfect little afternoon treat from I-Sha. Coconut is good for you!IMG_7633.JPGBeneficial lacewings drying out from heavy dew on seeding hurricane grass. Lacewing eggs look like tiny threads with white dots suspended from them and can be found on any grass-like structure, including the laundry line.

Lettuce tell you about today’s harvest: sweet salad mix, teen spicy salad mix, baby arugula, and microgreens. Over in the tomato department we’ve got lovely heirlooms, paste tomatoes, slicers, and a few types of cherries! The veggie aisle at ARTfarm has crispy cucumbers, poetic beets, crunchy radishes, early bird sweet corn for the first few customers, lettuce heads, escarole, sweet peppers, assorted chili peppers, kale; the herb garden offers Italian basil, holy basil, lemon basil, dill, cilantro, parsley, garlic chives, recao, mint, lemongrass, and tender young ginger root. In fruit and home decor we’ve got gorgeous bright zinnia flowers and tangy passionfruit.

In the frozen section you’ll find I-Sha’s homemade vegan all-local coconut based, miraculously creamy non-dairy ICE CREAM in far-out local flavors from avocado to beet-ginger to locust bean to soursop. Always fun to see what Feel-I has come up with next!

We had a great visit from a former ARTfarm employee over the holidays and she managed to put in a few hours helping us out! We named a key garden after Maria years ago so it’s kind of like she never left! IMG_7710.JPG
