ARTfarm Wed 3-6pm: Bounty of Land and Sea

The weather has been very cool and overcast. Now it is sunny again, but the cool weather has created rapid growth and a bumper crop for many things especially the tomatoes. We will have more tomatoes today than we had so far this season for sale. Now is the time to make a huge pot of fresh sauce and can or freeze it for enjoying in the non-tomato months! In other hot news today: Pescatarians rejoice! To accompany your vegetables Ryan & Kim will have fresh Mahi available this afternoon! And thanks to Sejah Farm for shipping a cartload of ARTfarm lettuce heads to St. Thomas.

ARTfarm & Wanda: Déjà vu Saturday

 Come on out this morning starting at 10 AM to greet your neighbors and bask in the warmth of Wanda the honey mead maker!

While we do our best to shield our customers from some of the ugly realities of the farming life, repetitiveness can be one of the aspects that can prove… Well, repetitive. All of this to say that today’s farmstand lineup is going to be markedly similar to last Saturday’s lineup, with a few barely perceptible omissions and  the fortunate exception that Wanda will be joining us again! Let us enjoy the comfort of routine.
SALAD GREENS: Sweet salad mix, lots of baby arugula, teen arugula;
‘MATER MADNESS: Loads of heirloom tomatoes, slicing tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes;
VEGGING OUT: Kale, onions, green bell peppers, carrots, radishes, and assorted sweet, rich pumpkins;
SPICE & HERB: Pungent-but-not-hot seasoning peppers, red serrano peppers, Indian chilies, fresh ginger root, parsley, Italian basil, Thai basil, holy basil, lemon basil, cilantro, dill, recao, rosemary, and garlic chives;
YOU DESERVE IT: Loads of cut flowers, fresh figs, and from our partners: I-Sha vegan ice cream, Errol’s local raw honey, fresh Fiddlewood Farms goat cheese!

ARTfarm Windy Wednesday 3-6pm

Beautiful heirloom tomatoes from ARTfarm, with characteristic split marks from a dry early season followed by wet weather.

The pumpkin varieties we grew at ARTfarm this season have such a tender, edible skin that they do not need to be peeled before cooking, baking or roasting.
 It has been a blustery, gusty few days on the island. Squalls have blown through from the north, dropping scattered rain and chilly breezes. We have been fortunate to catch a little bit of rain.

Today’s harvest: Sweet salad mix, baby arugula, baby spicy salad mix, teen arugula, teen spicy salad mix, loads of heirloom tomatoes, slicing tomatoes, loads of cherry tomatoes, a few cucumbers, a few summer squash, green bell peppers, yellow seasoning peppers, red mild serrano peppers, red Indian chilies, Italian basil, Thai basil, lemon basil, holy basil, parsley, garlic chives, assorted pumpkins whole or by the slice, radishes, onions, zinnia flowers, fresh Mediterranean figs, and a few passionfruit.

From our partners: Fiddlewood Farms fresh local goat cheese, I-Sha’s vegan ice creams in local fruit flavors, and raw local honey.

We are located on South Shore Rd. between Ha’penny Beach and the Boy Scout Camp. See you this afternoon!
