ARTfarm Monday Stand: 3–6 p.m.! Cherry Tomatoes Jubilee!

“The cherries are finally really coming in! We should have enough for everybody today,” according to Farmer Luca. IMG_7504.JPGAs a nice side to your giant bowl of cherry tomatoes, may we suggest any of the following: Sweet salad mix, microgreens, arugula, spicy salad mix, loads of cucumbers, a few slicer tomatoes, radishes with delicious edible green tops, cilantro, Italian basil, lettuce heads, and fresh cut zinnia flowers.

We also have Errol’s beautiful raw dark local honey in small bottles. Perfect little holiday gifts. Don’t forget about Three Kings Day!

We will be open on Wednesday, New Year’s Eve, special hours for you special people. We will be open in the morning as if it were a Saturday, 10 AM – 12 noon. According to Farmer Luca, the sweet corn will be ready on Wednesday. He’s been holding out on you guys, waiting for the peak of flavor and size on every ear.

Jen and Joe are back on St. Croix for the winter and back helping out at ARTfarm! We’re thrilled to have them around!

ARTfarm Holiday Happiness Saturday 10am-12 noon!

The Christmas winds have brought rainbows, dramatic skies, sweet night time rains and excellent growing conditions to the farm.

For Christmas Third Day, we have freshly harvested for you: Sweet salad mix, spicy salad mix, cherry tomatoes, a few slicer tomatoes, a few early ears of sweet corn, cucumbers, radishes, escarole, spicy ginger root, purple yard long beans, lettuce heads, cilantro, recao, lemongrass, mint, garlic chives, dill, Italian basil, holy (Tulsi) basil, lemon basil, Thai basil, green chili peppers, and fresh-cut zinnia flowers. For your garden we have a few basil plants, tomato plants, and pineapple slips on offer.

From our partners we have avocados from a friend, local vegan fruit flavored ice cream from I-Sha, and local dark honey of complex notes from master beekeeper Errol Chichester.

Cooking greens such as collards, Chinese cabbage and kale, normally a big staple for us, have been struggling with pest problems this season. Check out the alternatives: the radish greens that come attached to our radish bunches are a delicious cooking green. Our escarole is doing well. It is a flat-growing lettuce-head-like crispy green that is commonly used in Italian wedding soup but makes a great addition to any cooking recipe involving vegetables. It can be sautéed or added to a pot. It has a strong and slightly bitter flavor when eaten raw. Bitter greens are a very healthy addition to the diet in moderate quantities.

The New Year is nearly upon us! We will be open regular hours on Monday: 3–6 p.m. On New Year’s Eve day, we will be open for our holiday (morning) hours: Wednesday from 10 AM – 12 noon.

ARTfarm Winter Starts! Mon & Wed This Week!

Taste the sweet sun, cool rains and Christmas trade winds in our soil-grown produce available this week, special holiday hours: Sweet salad mix, microgreens, baby arugula, recao, garlic chives, basil, mint, radishes, zinnia flowers, lots of cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and a few slicer tomatoes. We have a fresh batch of coconut-milk ice cream from Feel I in four delectable local fruit flavors: banana, soursop, passionfruit, and avocado. AND Kim will be on hand with fresh filleted tuna!

Open Monday, December 22nd, 3-6pm AND special hours Wednesday morning, Christmas Eve from 10 till 12 with more goodies! We look forward to seeing you this week!
